SMP for Transplant Scars
Hair transplants are a drastic solution for anyone experiencing hair loss, given the invasive nature of the surgery and the associated high costs. Hair means a lot in terms of our pride and confidence, and we make daily efforts to keep it in good condition as it greatly contributes to our overall appearance. However, it can be upsetting when we start to experience hair shedding or notice changes in our hairline or scalp. While a medical professional can often determine the causes of hair loss, the available treatments are frequently limited and not always effective.
There are two common methods of hair transplantation: Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). FUT involves removing a 6-10 inch strip of scalp with abundant and strong hair growth, while FUE requires shaving the back of the patient’s head and extracting donor hair follicles one by one.

Discover Tiffany Rue's SMP Expertise
SMP for scarring involves implanting organic black ink into the scalp to create the appearance of natural hair follicles. The results of SMP can last up to 3 to 5 years before requiring touch-ups. The procedure is relatively painless and produces a natural-looking outcome that boosts self-confidence.
If you prefer a shorter haircut, SMP can create the illusion of hair follicles at the back of the head, effectively concealing surgical scars. For those with longer hair, SMP provides the appearance of full hair, effectively camouflaging the scar.
It’s important to note that scar tissue can be thicker and may not respond to pigments in the same way as normal scalp tissue. Typically, you can expect 3-4 sessions lasting anywhere from 1-6 hours for regular treatments. Additional sessions may be necessary for cases involving surgical scars, as we evaluate how the area responds to the treatment.
In order to ensure complete healing, both internally and externally, it is recommended to wait a minimum of 8 to 12 months after the surgery before undergoing SMP to cover FUT/FUE scars.
